Procedures for Maintaining Your VA Education Benefits Once Enrolled

Once enrolled into classes each semester, you must submit aΒ . We can’t certify your enrollment to the VA without this form.
MGIB-SR (Ch. 1606) & MGIB-AD (Ch. 30) ONLY:
Chapter 1606 and Chapter 30 students must also verify their monthly enrollment with the VA every month throughΒ the , Ask VA, or by calling 1-877-823-2378 or 1-888-442-4551.
Post 9/11 (Ch. 33) & DEA (Ch. 35):
Post-9/11 and DEA recipients need toΒ verify their monthlyΒ enrollment with the VA via text, email, Ask VA, or by calling 1-888-442-4551. Monthly payments will not be released from the VA without your monthly verification.
If you have not submitted your VA Certification Request Form and been certified to the VA for the semester, you will not be able to verify your monthly enrollment with the VA.
Reminders
Reminders are contained in the Statement of Responsibilities for VA Education Benefits that you accept and acknowledge when you request certification for your VA benefits every semester. Please contact our team if you have any questions.
- Register for classes that are required for completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking program, minor, or subject certificate.
- Make satisfactory progress towards the completion of my declared undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking program, minor, or subject certificate.
- Inform the VSSC of any changes in academic status such as add/drop of classes, completely withdrawing from classes, change of program/major, academic dismissal, or concurrent enrollment at another institution. Withdrawing or dropping from classes may result in a debt with the VA and/or the school.
- Receiving an βFβ grade due to non-attendance may result in an overpayment with the VA. You must adhere to 91ΑΤΖζβs Attendance Policy.
- The VA does not pay for repeated courses if you have already received a passing grade for that course unless your degree plan requires a higher grade than you received.
- Receipt of a non-punitive grade will be reported to the VA and it could affect you benefits, in which case you may have to repay 91ΑΤΖζ. (Example grade: βWβ).
- Academic dismissal or probation will be reported to the VA if benefits were received for the course, in which case you may have to repay the benefits received.

Fall Semester
Ensure that all your requirements are met before the Fall semester begins.

Check with the Financial Aid office for additional information regarding financial aid during Summer.
Summer Semester Terms
SC Army National Guard: SC CAP applications available from June 1st to August 1st (NO exceptions) for the entire upcoming academic year.
National Guard and Reservists should complete their Federal Tuition Assistance well in advance of the first day of Fall classes.
