Such concerns can make it difficult for a person to function in a satisfying and successful manner. Common student concerns presented in counseling include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Loneliness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Feelings of Inadequacy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Depression<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Problems Adjusting to a Military College<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anxiety<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stress<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alcohol and Substance Abuse<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relationship Issues<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poor Grades<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bereavement and Grief<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eating Disorders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anger and Irritability<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>91ÁÔÆæ Counseling Center provides an atmosphere where personal concerns of any type can be examined and discussed freely and confidentially. Such an environment increases the likelihood that problems and conflicts will be resolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty and staff who would like to encourage a student to seek counseling are referred to the link &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citadel.edu\/counseling-center\/how-do-i-refer-a-distressed-student\/faculty-staff-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Referring a Distressed 91ÁÔÆæ &#8211; Information for Faculty\/Staff.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More on how to refer a distressed student <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citadel.edu\/counseling-center\/how-do-i-refer-a-distressed-student\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-career-counseling\"><a><\/a>Career Counseling<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Making decisions about a major and\/or career requires that students understand themselves. Counselors can help with that decision-making process. Through our office, students can meet with a counselor to better understand their interests, skills, and abilities. 91ÁÔÆæs are also encouraged to visit 91ÁÔÆæ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citadel.edu\/career\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Career Center<\/a> at 573 Huger Street for comprehensive career\/employment planning and preparation assistance; guidance on academic portfolio and resume construction and use; on-campus interviewing and career fair schedules; development of interviewing skills and employment search strategies; occupation, firm and industry research; graduate program research; and assistance in using 91ÁÔÆæ Career Volunteer mentors. 91ÁÔÆæ Career Center may be contacted at 843-953-1617.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-academic-effectiveness-counseling\"><a><\/a>Academic Effectiveness Counseling<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Many students experience some type of difficulty in their academic work. This may involve problems in concentration or motivation, test anxiety, or other difficulties. Through professional counseling, students can understand some of the reasons for their difficulties and learn to overcome them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>91ÁÔÆæs are also encouraged to seek academic assistance from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citadel.edu\/ssc\/\">91ÁÔÆæ Success Center<\/a>, located in Thompson Hall. The 91ÁÔÆæ Success Center offers individual and group academic assistance to undergraduate students, graduate students, and students with disabilities. Academic assistance includes academic advising, learning strategies, tutoring, study skills, and organizational skills.
